Beat the post Christmas winter blues

The excitement of Christmas has gone but the effects of overindulgence have affected our waistlines throwing us into the turmoil of the January blues. We set New Year resolutions to be fitter and healthier than before but how often do you keep and achieve these resolutions? Research shows that only 8% of people who make New Year's resolutions are able to succeed at them entirely to their satisfaction.

This year we want to increase the percentage and help you achieve your goals by turning a dark dreary January into a bright healthier future. Let's take a look at how we can help you succeed.

Music

How often does your mood change when you hear music dependant on the type of vibe it gives off? Start by creating a playlist on your mobile phone, laptop or tablet of uplifting music. Play it daily, play it loud, sing and dance and see how your mood uplifts.

Exercise

Exercise is a great reducer of stress and helps to improve sleep, releasing those happy endorphins you can work your way to a leaner and fitter body with just simple light exercise to work alongside your weight loss plan.

Create a brighter environment

It is so easy to shut ourselves away in the colder months and hide underneath blankets and keep the curtains closed. Bring light into your day, open those curtains, and introduce brighter furnishings such as light coloured fabrics. Get out of those PJ's and into some comfortable bright clothing. Enjoy the great outdoors. It may still be cold but wrap up warm and take a nice long walk maybe meet with friends and have a cup of tea and chat at the end of the walk.

Plan a holiday

Just by planning a trip away to warmer climates or spending time sightseeing can increase the mood significantly. All the while helping you to keep to your New Years Resolution of having the figure you want for that trip away.

Try Something New

Ever wanted to take up a new hobby but always put it off? Now is the time to start it will keep your brain occupied and also stimulated whilst learning a new skill or technique. It's this new found motivation for something different that will lift those January blues that we all commonly feel at some point in our lives.

I want to lose weight because I've just found out I have PCOS and have a very small chance of having children. The best way of increasing my chances is to lose weight. A week after finding this out I was told I have sleep apnea and the best thing for that is to lose weight also. I am 23 and I do already have a 6 year old son (my miracle) I had him when I was 17 and only weighed 11 stone. Since having him I have gained weight due to post natal depression which later turned into normal depression and because of this I chose to put off having more children. I've always wanted children and every day I thank my stars I have my son so I want to lose weight and stay healthy for him and hopefully more children in the future

I intend to beat the winter january blues by getting slim once and for all and treating myself to some lovely warm flattering jumpers for my new slim figure. Also being on the diet has given me more energy so I'm enjoying finally keeping on top of my housework and looking after 4 kids and hubby.

I've got a lot of weight to lose, mainly due to the amount of booze,
this time of year is always so quiet, the perfect time to cut back and diet,
all the bad foods I no longer crave, with the help of the products from Slim & Save,
thinking about a Summer vacation, gives me lots of motivation,
but perhaps I'll also buy new shoes, to chase away the winter blues.

I have an 11 year old and a 7 year old. There's never a dull moment with these two around, and it's great to get out of the house, enjoy some fresh air and enjoy some winter sunshine (when it appears and it's not raining).

I get so excited about Christmas that I always have a big fall in January and feel really down but my new years resolution this year was to always remember how blessed and lucky I am. So to do this, I make a little note, in my diary, every day of something or someone that I am grateful for and each morning so far it has made me smile. Just thinking of the reason or the memory. A smile is a great way to start the day and it really has helped.

I dislike January intensely! It's my birthday month, and for years and years (since my teens) I have been given birthday presents which are obviously 'not wanted' gifts left over from Christmas! This year, I have decided to give myself the best present of all - weight loss. I couldn't do this without Slim & Save products and the fantastic support online. By the time summer rolls around I will emerge, as a butterfly does from a chrysalis, raring to go!

There isn't any winter blues to beat! Not for me anyway, making positive changes and really looking at my mindset is my whole goal for 2019. Like the article says, it's not about resolutions, it has to be an holistic whole life change, so by being kinder on myself, accepting I can't be perfect. Is a step towards having a better mental attitude and that feeds (no pun!) Into weight loss and changing my relationship with food.

I am trying to beat the winter blues by looking forward to selling my family/marital home so I can finally escape my 'x' and move on to the rest of my life with my wonderful partner. I nearly lost him to sepsis last may, so every moment is precious.
I have 9 stone to lose....and a wedding dress to get into.
My 25yr Arab may not be able to do much, but hoping we can do a little bit of light hacking to enjoy ourselves before we're both 'past it'.
Roll on spring and everything 'This Wonderful Life' now has to offer......so much to look forward to.

I think the best way is to do a brisk 10 minute walk in the daylight, whatever the weather. Wrap up warm and set off at a pace knowing in 10 minutes you can be home and dry with your feet up and a mug of soup or hot chocolate shake. I find the easiest way is to set a time each day and just go at that time removing the possibility of putting it off. I put the kettle on before I leave and use the timer on my phone. I set it for 5 mins and when it goes off I turn round and go home. Both the exercise and the light both have positive effects on mood, as does the sense of achievement. You could even fit it into your lunch break at work.

So this is the new me emerging ready in time for my Easter holiday to Wales and I love the chocolate shakes So So much they will help me along the way x
