I just wanted to share my story of the past year of maintaining my weight loss. It has been an interesting year for all of us with COVID and lockdown. As if we needed another challenge on top of trying to maintain... lol.
When I first came off the Lifestyle Plan, I was a little nervous about going it alone, but with the help from the S&S Facebook page and the odd Slim&Save pack (chocolate porridge and pancake packs were my favourites) I was off in the right direction. After that, I worked out keeping an eye on my calorie, and carb intake with every meal was the way to go. For a while, I continued logging my macros until I knew roughly what I could have to keep my meals healthy and not heavy in calories. I also preferred to keep my lunches low-carb and some of my evening meals, so I could enjoy my roast dinners at the weekend.
Some of the products I still use very regularly are; slim rice (I know not everyone's cup of tea..but I like it as it''s a great way to bulk out your meals), fry light instead of oil, low-calorie ice creams for those hot days and alcohol-free wine with soda water during the week. Another thing that has stuck was making my own rhubarb jam with sweetener, which I have with my porridge in the morning. A great low calorie treat!!
Keeping my water intake up has been key in keeping my weight off!!
I have managed to keep within my 3 lbs buffer zone throughout the past year by trying to keep a balance over the course of a week. This way I can have the odd treat and enjoy myself without ruining my hard work.
During lockdown, I found it harder, as like most of you, I too wanted to comfort eat/drink, but every time I felt like that I tried to take time out for myself or go for a walk with the kids. Crocheting and other craft projects have been great for keeping my hands busy and my mind out of the fridge... lol.
The Slim&Save team keeps being a huge support, and so is their Facebook S&S maintenance page. Thanks guys! I am now 1 Kg under my goal weight, and I am over the moon!
