Mark Smithers Maintenance Follow Up Story - Two years on!
We recently caught up with Mark Smithers who lost over 10st with Slim & Save in 2014. It was great to touch base with Mark and also very exciting to see how well he has managed to maintain his weight loss and how his life has changed!
Mark's story confirms how it is possible to maintain your weight loss after a VLCD. We hear so many people say: “losing weight on a VLCD is short-term and you will regain the weight once you stop.” Like any diet, if you stop and go back to your old eating habits you will gain weight. The old saying “You are what you eat” is very much true and if you return to your old eating habits that caused you to be overweight, you can pretty much guarantee your weight will begin to creep up on you once again. This happens on any type of diet not just a VLCD.

The key to long term weight loss success is changing your previous way of life as well as your eating habits. When you have reached your goal weight and followed through the re-feed plan, you need to switch onto a conventional diet that allows you to eat a healthy balanced diet. Also if exercise can be included into your routine, you are certainly onto a winning combination. This will guarantee long-term maintenance for life.
We asked Mark to share a little information about how he is getting on since his weight loss with Slim & Save and how he manages to stay at his goal weight, two years on:
“Since losing 66kg (10st) with Slim & Save back in October 2014, I have managed to maintain my weight and keep the pounds from creeping back on. My weight does fluctuate sometimes but I still go to the gym and eat plenty of protein which is great. I also love being able to be so much more energetic and I can still eat the foods I enjoy within reason. I'm also planning on going back to Thorpe Park as I was denied going on one of the rides there last time I visited, purely because of my size.
I am also a great fan of Cos Plays in London as I love Marvel characters and Anime, and since losing my excess weight, I could actually get into a costume last year! For me, to go as the character I like from the Anime called One Piece, (which I have attached a photo) is just so brilliant!!
Whilst doing Slim & Save it taught me to drink plenty of water and I still do, especially before meals as it helps fill me up. My life has changed so much and I'm so much happier within myself. I have recommended Slim & Save to a lot of people as from my own experience I know what benefits it can bring to your life if you are unhappy with your weight. It's the best eating plan I have ever been on and the only one that ever worked for me.
I met up with my friend Mr Motivator recently and he couldn't believe it was me. My confidence is so much better now and I do get the ladies looking at me which I didn't before!!!! I will never go back to what I was before and if I did put a bit back on I would always go back to Slim & Save which is a big part of my life and eating plans. However, I'm far too happy to go back and when occasionally the pounds do go up and down I know my limits, thanks to Slim & Save.

Well done Mark love you and so proud of you Maggie would be so proud of you and I'm sure she is watching you from heaven xxxxxx
This is a great achievement. My question is, what happened to all the excess skin? As I understand it,if you lose the weight, you just get left with a large amount of loose skin. Is it because of Mark's age, that he is able to shrink back the excess?
