I’m Shelley, 41 and a working mum, I’ve been overweight since my first son was born 20 years ago, I often joined slimming clubs over the years and would lose some weight before tiring of the restrictions each diet had and giving up. My weight blossomed to 15 stone at my heaviest around three years ago after being diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis, it affected my feet, and I had days of not being able to walk, having been in the Army in my younger days and so active, being immobile really affected me. March 2018 my partner and I decided it was time to get married after being together for eight years, I was hoping this would spur me on to drop some weight, so we planned an August wedding.
I started counting calories, and my weight was slowly coming down, but I found it hard going it alone. In April I was at a work conference, and I was talking to a male colleague who was looking a lot slimmer than he usually did while having our lunch he was tucking into a Slim & Save bar, and we got talking about his diet, and how much weight he’d lost. That night I went back to my room and ordered my first pack of Slim & Save, at first I started on the simplicity plan for the first couple of weeks, my fiancé also joined in the diet with me. We then switched to lifestyle as I was still cooking for my 7-year-old on an evening. I go between simplicity and lifestyle to suit what I am doing from day to day.
I have had four weeks off plan due to holidays and events, but in the 17 weeks I’ve been following Slim & Save plan I’ve lost just over 30lbs, so has my husband! We loved the diet that much my mum and mum-in-law are both following it and between the 4 of us we have lost over 100lbs so far.
There have been times where I’ve fallen off the wagon and gone off plan, but I don’t beat myself up, I get back on it, the support network is fantastic. Losing 30lbs has had more of an effect on me than just the weight going down, I’m not suffering so much with my arthritis as carbs can to have a detrimental impact and cause flare-ups, I feel happier, more confident, it’s not just my body that’s lighter!! I had a fantastic wedding day and couldn’t believe all the lovely compliments I received throughout the day.
I’m continuing my journey with Slim & Save as I eventually want to get down to 10 stone to be the healthiest I can be. My advice to anybody thinking about starting the Slim & Save diet is, don’t think about it just do it! The only thing you have to lose is weight, you will find the meals that work for you and stick with it if you stumble don’t dwell on it, pick yourself up and carry on, nobody’s perfect, but don’t give up we will all get there in the end!
Be sure to get involved with the online groups as the support from everyone is brilliant.
