I started my journey at the end of April 2018 with a start weight of 13 stone 6lb. I am 53 years old and had previously lost 5 stone on another VLCD 10 years ago, but over the years I had gained 3 stone.
I switched between the Simplicity and Lifestyle plans and I’m now 11 stone 2lb. It has taken me 15 weeks, but I did have 2 weeks off plan in between. I am a slow loser and had to try not compare my losses with others on the plan so I had this in my mindset from the beginning, and this helped me a lot not to be disappointed with my losses and to be happy for others on the plan.
I started at size 16 and now I’m a size 12 and I am now determined to not go back to my old unfit self where I was unable to walk up a flight of stairs without gasping for breath and the pain I had daily in my knees and back. I’m only 5ft 4 so my joints were affected by the weight and now I’m running up the stairs and the pain has subsided.
Many times I did feel like giving up but I knew it would get easier in time and I used the support of the sns customer care team and other members to help motivate me. I also found the meal planner to be a great help encouraging me to take in my water and stop me going over my food allowance. It also stopped me from putting extra food in my mouth and then being in denial that I had done that, (which was a bad habit I had before, sneaking food when no one was around and then saying I hadn’t eaten). I now feel I have some control over my eating habits.
Remember if I can do this you can! Just use all the resources to help you on your journey and remember you are human and if you have a blip just get straight back on plan.
