If you had told me at the beginning of this year that this would be the year I lost weight, I wouldn't have believed you! I've always been a big girl and confident about it, as that's the way I thought I'd always be. I was diagnosed with polycystic ovarian syndrome in my twenties, and told simply to lose weight if I wanted my condition to improve and have any chance of conceiving. After a few failed attempts I gave up, being away from my family, mental health problems and an unhappy relationship meant that food and alcohol were a comfort to me. I loved cooking, baking and weekends in the pub.
When I turned 30 I moved back to my hometown and life got better. Living alone and working meant I relied on ready meals. I realised I was putting on more weight. I did eat healthily, loved fruit and salads, but I was eating huge portions. My knees were sore, and an MRI scan on my spine showed my weight had caused my posture to be so bad, I was suffering from trapped nerves and was beginning to lose the feeling in my hands and arms.
One weekend I started to research weight loss for women with PCOS and VLCD, as I made up my mind that I had to do something! I decided to follow Slim & Save’s Lifestyle Plan, as I wanted to enjoy a meal with friends most days. I was honestly surprised at how easy I found it to get into, the packs were tasty and easy to prepare at work or at home. The support from the Slim & Save staff was amazing. I started to enjoy exercise, walking was now easier and trying on new clothes felt so good. Seeing the results of the weight loss spurred me on.
I've now maintained my weight loss for 4 weeks. Following Slim & Save was the best decision I've made in a long time!
